Cats pics are generaly frowned upon by “good” photographers. Too mainstream, may be too easy, I don’t know… and personally I don’t care. Not just because I’m fond of this little furball, at home for 3 weeks now, but because I think one should shoot whatever he fancies. Regardless of the rules written and enforced by the arbiters of glamour - and photography is so full of them.
So basically it’s my cat already playing with the awesome cardboard firetruck we were trying to make up with my sister, who bought Himé (cat’s name) this gift without even knowing her, because she’s a cool sister.
Technically, shooting a pumped-up cat with a rangefinder in low light is a good focus practice. The room was so dark I could barely go for the eyes as focusing point. And Himé was overexcited, she was moving an awful lot to say the least. I was rather pleased to nail this one.
Dog in a wheel chair, Strasbourg, October 2012. For those who find the DNG of the M Monochrom a bit flat. They are flat because they are meant to be edited. If you want out of the camera contrasty pics shoot jpegs with the high contrast settings.
